Caedmon's Call

Well. I went to two Caedmon's Call concerts this weekend, and both were amazing. I stuck around after both and talked to pretty much every member of the band except Jeff Miller (what do you say to a bass guitarist?) (oh wait, he's also a computer programmer. Duh. Crap.). I also saw Bryan Allain again, and met the famous Geof Morris. The concerts were fairly amazing, even if the crowds weren't all that into Caedmon's, particularly. Andy O's guitar solos were insane.

I got some pictures, none of which were amazing, but a couple of which were at least worthwhile. They're all here, on my Google Photos thingy. And I guess I'll put a couple here just so you have something to look at:

Overdressed - you can still get the pre-release if you hurry!

http://www.caedmonscall.com/

I'm so sorry...I've been incredibly remiss in not mentioning this, but Caedmon's Call's new album is coming out on Tuesday, so I think you can still get in on the special limited edition pre-release version until Monday. You SHOULD, because it has two extra songs, one of which is probably worth $5 in itself. The pre-release costs $12, and you get two full copies (that is, the case, CD, liner notes, everything) for that price. An amazing deal, and a very, very, very good CD. I've been listening to it all day today - no, really....like 10 times through - and it's worth your money.

Quickly, now!

On an unrelated note, I spent the evening with Tim Milligan and Julian Spiegler, singing along to their excellent guitars. We hit some songs that I haven't really listened to in years, like the Newsboys' "Lost the Plot", as well as one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES, "Elle G.", also by the Newsboys. Just those few minutes singing probably qualify as my favorite of all the things I've done this summer. =P Thanks, guys.

Denim is a Trend

As I was sitting in math class today, a song popped into my head. Sung to the tune of "Candle in the Wind" by Elton John, this is "Denim is a Trend", by yours truly.

Goodbye normal jeans,
Though I always knew that you would
Fall out of style, fall out of grace,
With those who shop in malls.
They started ripping small holes
And they sold you to younger kids
Then put you in the washer
And they changed your Made In name.

(refrain)
And it seems to me they dragged your pants
Through a huge pile of manure,
Never sewing the whole seam through
When they made your jeans.
And I would have liked to have sold you
Another set of duds
Because Armani wears out long before
My Levis ever would

Marketing was tough
(Much tougher than the jeans they made)
Wall Street wanted a worthwhile sale
So they raised the price that’s paid.
Even when they dyed
You a darker shade of blue
All the stickers had to say
Was that the jeans were new and improved.

(refrain x1)

Goodbye normal jeans,
Though I always knew that you would
Fall out of style, fall out of grace,
With those who shop in malls.
Goodbye normal jeans
From the young man in the 22nd aisle
Who sees you as something more than textiles,
More than just a certain type of clothes

(refrain x1)
